Partnering in Asia to Amplify Impact

Recognising Asia’s climate vulnerability and the urgent need for bold solutions, Temasek Foundation launched The Liveability Challenge (TLC) in 2018 to unlock the region’s potential for climate action. Today, TLC is Asia’s largest sustainability challenge platform, drawing over 6,600 submissions from 100+ countries. Its past winners have collectively secured more than S$600 million in follow-on funding, over 50 times the prize value.

From Science to Solutions
The Decarbonising Rice project could redefine rice farming through higher yields, lower emissions, and improved food security.
Rice is a staple for half the world’s population, yet climate pressures and farming emissions threaten its future. Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory’s Decarbonising Rice project tackles this by combining climate-resilient varieties, sustainable soil and water management, and precise methane monitoring to cut emissions and boost yields.
Backed by an initial Temasek Foundation grant and US$5 million in philanthropic capital mobilised by the Philanthropy Asia Alliance, the project is now scaling to larger field trials in Laos, Indonesia, and India. Find out more.
A Lifeline for Pre-term Infants
A family supporting Singapore's first donor human milk bank piloted by Temasek Foundation and KKH.
Premature and sick infants often lack access to safe human milk, placing them at risk of severe health complications. With Temasek Foundation’s support, KKH established Singapore’s first donor human milk bank in 2017, which has since expanded nationwide and helped reduce infant mortality.

Transforming Maternal and Child Health
Holistic care is being provided to children under the Integrated Maternal and Child Wellness Hub piloted by Temasek Foundation and partners.
The first 1,000 days from conception are critical for lifelong health, yet important needs like developmental screening and maternal mental health support are often overlooked. Temasek Foundation, SingHealth Polyclinics, and KKH piloted the Integrated Maternal and Child Wellness Hub at Punggol Polyclinic, embedding holistic screenings and early interventions into routine care.
The programme is now being scaled to more polyclinics to improve outcomes for mothers and children. Learn more.
