Impact Highlights 2026: Greater Impact, Together

25 Aug 2026

Across the Temasek Trust Collective, entities and partners combine distinct capabilities — from research and innovation to capability building, catalytic capital, and pathways to scale — to advance shared areas of impact.

In seaweed innovation, pandemic preparedness, and climate finance, these complementary strengths are helping promising solutions move further and faster.

The following examples show how the Collective and its partners connect expertise, resources, and networks to accelerate impact.

Explore the full Impact Highlights.

From Seaweed Farms to Sustainable Packaging

Seaweed innovation
spans both how it is farmed and how it can be used — from improving productivity and livelihoods in coastal communities to enabling more sustainable alternatives to conventional materials. Across the Temasek Trust Collective, different entities are helping unlock opportunities along this emerging value chain.

Temasek Foundation and Bangalore-headquartered Sea6 Energy partnered to establish the world’s first large-scale mechanised tropical seaweed farm in Lombok, Indonesia. The project is testing open-water farming at scale and has delivered more than five times the productivity of traditional methods, alongside more than 25% higher farmer incomes through improved yields and mechanisation.

Further along the value chain, catalytic vehicle C3H invested in Notpla, a London-based sustainable packaging company developing seaweed- and plant-based alternatives to single-use plastics. The investment supports Notpla’s expansion into North America and the development of next-generation packaging solutions designed to replace conventional single-use plastics.

Meanwhile, digital impact marketplace Co-Axis features 2024 Earthshot Prize finalist Coast 4C on its platform, connecting investors with an opportunity that supports regenerative seaweed farming and smallholder livelihoods across Southeast Asia.

These efforts span innovation, test-bedding, catalytic capital, and investor access — helping build new markets for seaweed while creating opportunities for coastal communities.

Preparing Before the Next Outbreak

Pandemic preparedness depends on capabilities built long before an outbreak occurs: detecting emerging threats, generating reliable intelligence, and enabling countries and institutions to respond quickly.

Across the Collective, Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory contributes scientific expertise and implementation capability, while Temasek Foundation and the Philanthropy Asia Alliance provide catalytic funding for regional initiatives including the Asia-Pacific One Health Initiative (APOHI) and PathGen.

APOHI takes a One Health approach to emerging threats across humans, animals, and the environment. PathGen, housed within the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative, is being developed as an AI-powered platform combining pathogen genomics with contextual data to enable earlier, better-informed outbreak responses.

Temasek Foundation also supports Wastewater Surveillance for Pandemic Prevention (WaSPP), with Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory leading Singapore’s participation in the international effort to advance wastewater surveillance for pathogens with pandemic potential.

Rather than addressing one point of vulnerability, the Collective is helping build capabilities across the system — combining scientific research, surveillance, partnerships, and philanthropic funding to strengthen preparedness before the next health crisis emerges.

Channeling Climate Capital to Impact

The challenge in climate finance is not simply a shortage of capital. Investors need credible opportunities, institutions need the capabilities to structure and assess them, and promising projects often need early support before they can attract larger pools of funding.

Across the Collective, different entities are helping address these gaps. TT Foundation Advisors (TTFA) partnered the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to launch a donor-advised fund that mobilises philanthropic capital for high-integrity Article 6 carbon credit projects across Southeast Asia and beyond.

Through its climate finance programme with the Wealth Management Institute, Temasek Foundation is strengthening knowledge and capabilities among policymakers and financial-sector leaders in Asia. Meanwhile, the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP) worked with UNDP’s Sustainable Finance Hub on SDG Investor Maps, translating sustainable development priorities into actionable investment opportunities.

Taken together, these efforts span the climate-finance ecosystem — building capabilities, surfacing opportunities, and developing mechanisms that can help more capital move towards impact.

Stronger Together

These examples illustrate the value of working as a Collective. The aim is not for every entity to play the same role, but for different capabilities to reinforce one another — helping ideas develop, evidence grow, people and institutions build capacity, and capital reach solutions where it can make a difference.
